I am Brazilian, from Rio de Janeiro, and I’m passionate about Soccer, Education, Health, Economics, Econometrics and Data Science. Trying to follow my passion has led myself to my current status as a PhD student in Economics in a reputable university. It was not easy to get here, not at all.
[My advice to whoever want to read this]
I would model my life as a huge struggle to reduce the problem of asymmetric information in order to achieve something great, i.e., most peolpe I have met when I achieved prestigious schools worldwide had much more access to high-quality information about the “most eficient” way to get there (along with the financial resources to do so). Therefore, if it weren’t for the scholarship opportunities I had been able to – meritocratically – access, I would not be here.
So far, my takeaway in life is: always aim high enough to burst the next bubble that hinders your path and always focus on minimizing frustrations along the way, because they will be there. Also, focus on your family and friends and do some sports, weekly.
[In Regards to Teaching]
I have never been a genius, but I am very sure I have studied more hours than the average student. This added to my passion and perseverance led me to my current status. At the same time, I developed the passion for teaching and I believe the reason behind this is that I always had to look for answer in multiple textbooks and whenever I reached a solution, I realized that there could have been a better way to teach this.
When I was 15, there was not Youtube or any online courses being taught over the internet. Nowadays, there are plenty and I always can find some video of someone who really knows how to teach. Therefore, I decided to do the same and I’m starting with this website, because Real Analysis is one of the hardest subjects in math I have been exposed to (for who was not fluent in math).
